Around him was a never ending mass of brown matted fur, it seemed to undulate and pulse in time with his short breaths. Emotionless eyes looked straight through him as he sat quivering in the grey light of a summers night. It was inevitable, he was beyond safety in the grips of evil. The only sound was of the heart clawing at his rib cage and of his lungs frantically contracting.
So many eyes, all encompassing, never blinking. A reflection of a light in the dark enforcing their presence, his light in their eyes. Claws and teeth and mouths ajar, he resigned himself to his fate and closed his eyes - his heart could not so easily surrender.
Without Teddy in his arms, he wasn't safe.
